Dissolvable trials can tell you a lot, but only if the test includes the right mix of designs.

As operators continue reevaluating dissolvables, one thing continues to stand out: plug architecture matters just as much as the material itself. Not all dissolvable designs behave the same in the field.

That’s why including a top-set design in a multi-company trial is important. It gives operators a stronger baseline for comparing isolation performance, reliability, and overall tool behavior under the same well conditions.

Without that comparison point, it becomes harder to determine whether a failure is tied to the dissolvable material itself… or the design approach behind it.

M1NT was built around a top-set architecture because reliable isolation depends on maintaining compression and structural support across the plug. By keeping the mandrel in place and avoiding the compromises common in shorter bottom-set designs, M1NT provides a more stable platform for sealing and holding pressure in real-world field conditions.

Behind every gun, plug, shipment, assembly line and success story at Yellow Jacket are hardworking moms who do it all. This weekend, we celebrate the women who lead at work, lead at home, and somehow still make it look easy. Thank you to all the moms across Yellow Jacket Oil Tools for everything you do every single day.

And to the guys reading this....this is your reminder that Mother's Day is Sunday. Don't mess it up! Happy Mother's day from the entire Yellow Jacket Family! 💛

BOTTOM-SET PLUGS DON’T WORK, BUT DISSOLVABLES STILL CAN.

Many operators tried dissolvables early on and walked away after disappointing results. But dissolvables weren’t the problem. The design was.

Bottom-set plugs removed the mandrel and shortened the tool to reduce magnesium cost. That compromise sacrificed the structure needed to maintain reliable isolation.

Now that dissolvable materials are more affordable, operators no longer have to accept that compromise. Top-set fixes the problem.

M1NT. Top-set for a reason.

BOTTOM-SET PLUGS DON’T WORK & THE DATA IS NOW PROVING IT!

For years, operators suspected something wasn’t right with bottom-set dissolvables. The field experience was already telling the story. Now the data is starting to confirm it.

Recent reports from DarkVision and other studies suggest bottom-set dissolvable plugs can fail at rates approaching 40%. Isolation failures erase any savings from a cheaper plug.

The data confirms what the field has already experienced - bottom-set designs fail to deliver reliable isolation.
